Cuban Numismatic Association Meeting

FUN 2005 Coin Show in Fort Lauderdale Florida

The Second Annual (First Anniversary) CNA meeting was held on January 15, 2005. The Board meeting was held at 10:30am, and the General meeting was held at 3:00pm, on SATURDAY, January 15th. Some of the highlights of the meeting are listed as follows:

There were 40 attendees at the CNA general meeting, including all nine of the officers and directors. The general meeting included a limited auction of Cuban Numismatic items brought to the meeting by CNA members. In addition, a special auction of donated items was held to raise money for the newly established CNA Capital Fund.

The twenty items of the special auction AND the eleven door prizes were donated by CNA members. These items, as well as proceeds from the 50/50 raffle, generated $1104 for the Capital Fund. The following CNA members contributed and deserve our appreciation for the successful special auction: Marysol and Enrique Cayado, Bob Freeman, Jesus Inguanzo, Larry Casey, Emilio M. Ortiz, Stan Klein, Juan Pena, Jorge Chinea, Rudy Valentin, Joe Algazi, Roger Lane, and Frank Putrow. The capital Fund has been established to secure the necessary funding of a future business entity to serve the CNA.

Certificates of Excellence were awarded by President Frank Putrow to Secretary Marysol Cayado, Treasurer Bob Freeman, and Board Member/Website Administrator Stan Klein for outstanding performance of their respective responsibilities during the first year of operation. Other highlights of the CNA Board meeting, in addition to the normal business agenda, were:

1. CNA will apply with the State of Florida for 501(c)(3) non profit status. Treasurer Freeman will initiate the necessary documentation.
2. An alternate website (www.cubanumis.com), which is more user friendly will be established. Website administrator Stan Klein will be responsible. NOTE: The website is currently on line.
3. To maximize recognition, all Board members will be provided CNA business cards, which may be distributed in their communities.
4. The CNA will join the American Numismatic Society (ANS). NOTE: CNA is now a member of ANS.
5. Enrique Cayado was appointed Nominating Committee Chairman, who will recommend the 2006- 2007 slate of Officers at the 2006 CNA meeting. Larry Casey was appointed Parliamentarian.
6. A five year business plan was presented to the board by President Frank Putrow, establishing membership and Capital Fund goals.

The third annual meeting of the CNA will be held in January 2006, in Orlando, FL, in conjunction with the FUN 2006 Coin Show.

TROUBLE GETTING THE CURRENT NEWSLETTER WHEN ACCESSING CNA WEBSITE??
Some members could have trouble getting newly added information on the CNA website. The problem is that some ISP providers, such as AOL, retain the Pages of Websites on your computer to speed up transmission. If you are an AOL subscriber, “REFRESH” your explorer connection by hitting “F5” while you are on the page that does not appear to be current.
